Lata Mangeshkar (born on September 28, 1929, in Indore, British India passed away on February 6, 2022, in Mumbai [Bombay], India) became a legendary figure in Indian music and was endearingly known as “Swar Kokila” (vocal nightingale). Her remarkable career lasted for eight decades, during which she lent her voice to the soundtracks of over 2,000 Indian films.
Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar was a renowned playback singer from India, and at times, a music composer as well. She is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential voices in the Indian subcontinent.

Her father, Dinanath Mangeshkar, gained fame as a notable figure in Marathi theater and was often referred to as Master Dinanath. Starting her musical training at the age of five, she learned from her father, who was a student of the Gwalior gharana (a group of artists known for a unique musical tradition), and received instruction from prominent musicians like Aman Ali Khan and Amanat Khan.
